Michael Hearts Academy (MHA) is excited to be offering its Career Camp. We are looking forward to the new adventures and memories that our staff will create with camp participants this year.
Michael heats Academy is an approved vendor with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and we are happy to serve VR’s customers. MHA will be partnering with other organizations to provide Hearts Career Camp in two other locations.

Pre‐Employment Transition Service
What's Career Camp?
Career Camp services deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students who are eligible or potentially eligible to receive Vocational Rehabilitation services. Through the VR Career Camp program, certified providers create unique camp experiences to deliver Pre-ETS when school is out for at least three (3) consecutive scheduled school days, as indicated by the school board published schedule, such as during Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter breaks such as:
Work Readiness Training teaches students skills and behaviors necessary for any job. These skills include social/interpersonal skills, skills to reinforce the importance of timeliness, communication skills, personal hygiene, and proper workplace behavior.
Self-Advocacy training prepares students to effectively communicate their strengths, abilities, interests and needs when interviewing with potential employers or applying to trade schools, colleges or universities.
Postsecondary Educational Counseling allows students the opportunity to explore career and educational options. Educational counseling provides the student with different options in their career pathway, whether it be college, trade school, military, or straight into the workforce.
Job Exploration Counseling allows students the opportunity to explore career options. Counseling includes discussions on the student’s vocational interests, the labor market, and identification of career pathways of interest.
Work-based Learning Experiences use workplace or real work to provide students with the knowledge and skills to pursue future career opportunities and maintain employment. Direct employer or community involvement is essential to ensure student engagement.

In order for a camper to participate in a Hearts Career Camp. A referral will be submitted to VR staff a minimum of 20 business days prior to Camp begin date. Camps will be provided in-person and virtually.
In-person camp hours can be up to 8 hours a day with a 30-minute lunch. Virtual Camp hours can be up to 6 hours with a 30-minute lunch.
